It is official. What was once rumor is now solid fact. Developers of one of my favorite games of all time, Socom II: U.S. Navy Seals, has now been completely shut down. Zipper Interactive developed not only the majority of Socom titles, but also the brand-spankin’-new Unit 13 for the Playstation Vita.
They once pushed the boundaries of online gameplay. They once had a franchise that was more fun to play than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. Now, they’re dead and gone.
Recent titles Mag, Socom 4, and Unit 13 will continue to be supported for a currently unknown amount of time. We’ll keep you posted.

Max Payne 3 will be in stores May 15th for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, and May 29th for PC.
Today, IGN’s Greg Miller debuted on “Up At Noon” the trailer for Telltale Games’ adaptation of Image Comics’ The Walking Dead.
During an interview with Gary Whitta, a writer for the game, it was revealed that the game would not only be a completely separate entity from the current AMC television show, but it would stray away from the comic’s essential characters as well (so, no Rick Grimes). Although it is based in the same universe as the comics, there will be a completely set of new characters.
The main character of the game, Lee Everett, is described as a convict on his way to jail when the zombie apocalypse breaks out – a contrast to Grimes, who is on the other side of the law as a sheriff’s deputy.
TellTale Games’ The Walking Dead is due out April 2012 for PC, Mac, Playstation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and iOS. Stay tuned for more coverage of the game at mAltIntel.
